During the Liverpool Biennial 2008, Defnet Media produced Art in Liverpool FM - downloadable audio content to keep people informed during your time enjoying one of Europe's Premier Visual Arts events.
We had daily updates, interviews, performance recordings, reviews, artist talks and sonic art – Art in Liverpool FM informed and entertained.
We are still producing regular podcasts and offering others podcasts for your pleasure.

Superlambananas Finished! They are being loaded onto trucks and taken away - they will be back on display on St Georges Plateau on the 8 and 9 September prior to being auctioned for charity at St Georges Hall on the 9 September. Pre Auction welcome drinks and canapés 6.30-7.15pm - Auction 7.15-10.30pm
Art in Liverpool FM - This project is coming along nicely even without sending out a press release or any information. SoundNetwork, Frakture and the Great Barred are a few who have signed up to get involved in this project - if your interested find out more.
Fis 08 opened on Thursday evening with a private view of 12 contemporary Irish artists work on the 3rd floor of the Contempoary Urban Centre on Greenland Street, Liverpol.

Art in Liverpool FM – as part of the Liverpool Independent Biennial strand – Defnet Media and artinliverpool.com will be running downloadable radio station. All the broadcast licenses in Liverpool have gone and audio web streaming takes a lot of time so we have gone for downloadable programmes.
Round up Emperor & Tiger at Newsham Park. Good but not the best place for viewing this sort of event.
Imagine Festival - Brouhaha Princes Avenue and Park-very good, over 40,000 people attended and Brouhaha have been working hard with various community groups to produce all of the costumes and to get them to take part.. Good weather and music – a great day out.. More
Jaws the Exhibition at Microzine - scary! 12th Man, Central library by Tabitha Jussa, which is very good, includes memorabilia from Liverpool Football Club and Everton Football Club. It’s a long term project until the teams move to their new grounds.
Access Space is the UK’s first free media lab: an open-access learning community where participants learn, create and communicate online. Participation empowers individuals and develops skills, community, creativity and resourcefulness. Access Space focusses on creative engagement, encouraging participants to move from being e-consumers to becoming digital producers. Access Space hosts more than 200 web domains (17000+ online documents) for its participants.
I conducted this interview with James Wallbank, Director of Access Space in Sheffield, on the first evening of the Open Source City micro festival, hence the music in the background.
James mentions the Grow your own Media Lab graphic novel which should now be available from the Access Space website, http://access-space.org/.

This weeks show covers; Ian reviews Changeover at Site 68 Hope Street by Rebecca Key, Robin Woolston at Curve Gallery Victoria Street with an interesting exhibition about consumerism.
The John Moores University degree show is still on at various venues around Slater Street, with a fresh show probably given a bit more freedom by the spaces in which they are presented.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the Korea based Cho Theatre will be at the Edge Hill Pavillion part of Metal, with performances of the Angel and the Wood Cutter.
On the Wirral the Lady Lever Gallery presents Masterpieces, watercolours and drawings - An exhibition witch traces the history of the William Hesketh Collection, with work by Turner, Burn Jones etc.
Next WeekAt the Contemporary Urban Centre is an exhibition by 40 artists including some celebrities. They present Go Pink 08, to raise awareness of Cancer, it continues until the 1st JulyAnd finally the Ceri Hand Gallery opens, situated on Cotton Street it promises to be a great addition to the Liverpool art scene. The inaugural show is a group show of 10 artists work and continues until the 4th July. This week saw the reopening of the Bluecoat Display Centre back in it’s rightful place at the back of the Bluecoat Garden, it’s opening show ‘Gabriele Koch and Robin Welch - The Elisabeth Zuckerman Memorial Exhibition’ it shares with it’s other space Display Centre 2 on Hanover Street.
