Ian’s been taking down the Liverpool Art Prize - which took longer than expected but did manage to get along to Domino Gallery, which has a great exhibition called ‘The Other Side of Paris’ photos by Kate McLean. Futuresonic on 1st and 2nd May The Digital art show is still available online at http://www.digitalartshow.co.uk, then launch of Nexus at Edge Hill with Billy Bragg and Les Dennis in attendance; Tate’s 20th Birthday with thousands attending over the weekend, and a sighting of Lewis Biggs and Christophe Grunenberg dancing in the Magnet to Northern Soul. This is the additional material from the Art in Liverpool podcast - 4 March 2008, Byran talks informally about about the Bluecoats opening programme.
Bryan discusses the Gallery opening 7 Days a week, the fantastic restuarant, Alex Finlay’s Bird boxes, their ‘Best of’ project where artists have been encouraged to send in their work and their aims of bringing the visitor closer to artwork as it is made.
He discusses the performing arts programme - music Liverpol based Clinic, local folk singer John Smith, Yoko Ono, Mike Westbrook Band, Steve Reid Ensemble , and it’s Literature programme with Jeanette Winterson, Howard Marks, and Tom Paulin, and how it is working with Writing on the Wall,
He also covers the print making studio which will be developing print making in the city for artists - and how Norman Ackroyd is coming to talk about prinmaking; The artist studios and the planned gallery talks including poetry by Alex Finlay. Coming up - Ian has been working hard on the Liverpool Art Prize at the Urban Cultural Centre (NOVAS) which opened on the the Thursday 28 February - open till 7 May
Liverpool Art Prize has been a great success, with over 500 visitors including Phil Redmond. The opening was broadcast live on BBC Northwest Tonight and Ian was interviewed on Dean Sullivan’s show on city talk fm. Please vote for the People’s Choice before end of Saturday 8 March. The Awards will be announced on Sunday 9 March 3pm in the Contemporary Urban Centre.
Tech-news
