DaDaFest: Great events and performances – if you missed it you missed out.
La Machine It’s not coming back but the memories will last forever. Many people got drenched in the performance including Culture Minister Andy Burnham. It was truly fantastic. Many watched it appear in front of the Town Hall on Saturday and rest at top of Lord St. It was great the way that the crowds weren’t stuck behind barriers.
The National Sculpture prize at Bluecoat Display Centre 2 was won by Claire Burbridge for her piece cast in resin. The people’s choice went to Seamus Moran. See before it ends on Hanover St on 13 September. Bluecoat Display Centre 2 closes for good on 13 September.

Ringing Banners - Edward Bruce at Liverpool Cathedral - 12 September – 11 October
Church bell ringers and weaving technicians have worked with the artist Edward Bruce to produce a “transcription” of bell ringers’ music. The resulting two 32m and two 7m banners will be displayed inside the tower of the Anglican Cathedral, Liverpool throughout Liverpool Biennial 2008 .
These have been specially made for Liverpool’s Capital of Culture year, integrating art, music, craft, architecture and performance, bringing together the two worlds of bell ringing and weaving in a “total artwork”.

The Hive Collective has commissioned two of the world’s most accomplished sonic pioneers, Matthew Herbert and Chris Watson, to collaborate on a unique composition constructed entirely out of recordings from Crosby Beach – the site of Antony Gormley’s Another Place installation.
