David HoyleDuring Liverpool's Light Night, there are a fantastical number of performances and shows taking place - here is a quick round up of a small few starting with the A Foundation gallery opening until 10pm giving visitors an extended opportunity to enjoy The Economy of the Gift, Saatchi Online: Northern Stars and the exhibition of work produced by A Curriculum's artists in residence. As if this wasn't enough, from 10pm until 2am A Foundation will continue their after hours entertainment with live music and performances in the café bar.

A Foundation Acts include:

The highly recommended David Hoyle: David is a performance artist whose career has included stage, television, radio and film. In 2000 David killed off his alter ego, The Divine David, at an ice pageant at Streatham International Ice Rink. Since then he has continued to perform under his own name as a self-appointed Patron Saint to paranoid schizophrenics, aesthetes and the disenfranchised. David will be coming to Liverpool in the middle of a busy schedule to entertain the crowd throughout the night as MC and to conduct his Healing Seminar, spreading the gospel of equality and love. In his own words "in a world of artifice, at last some authenticity".

Acoustic set from Liverpool-based musician Simon Knighton. Music from Liverpool's self-proclaimed 'pseudo hardcore band that wear hotpants', We Came Out Like Tigers. And DJ sets from Elome & Trace Element

Philosophy in Pubs (PIP) are taking part in the Light Night cultural celebration on Friday 14th May. This is part of a national programme of events covering the whole of the UK – this Friday is Liverpool’s night, and is happening at various venues all over the city. Their chosen venue is Tate Liverpool.

As you may (or may not) have realised, over the years, PIPs has developed the ability to create and facilitate spontaneous open forums just about anywhere. Obviously great for creating open and constructive social forums, but also attractive to institutions like Art Galleries, Museums, Cultural Centres etc, as it offers their visitors a relaxed space where they can express their thoughts about the art and exhibits they have just witnessed. The institution in this instance is Tate Liverpool - the Cafe/Restaurant – they are reserving a few tables for a special PIP enquiry. (refreshments available)

Paul says "Support from the membership would be appreciated (try and give your-self time to check out the art on show)....... a few weeks ago I was given a quick viewing whilst down there - it looked quite good, exciting, but I’ll be getting down there early on Friday to experience it properly"
