Liverpool's monthly Social Media Cafe has announced that it is going to be having eight speakers at it's event next week, with a real range of subjects that has something to suit everyone.
With talks on web security, Local TV, blogging about food and digitally engaging older people what more could you want, it's a real range of diverse talks and from what I hear they are expecting more. Plus it's all for FREE because they love you so much.
So head down to Static Gallery on Roscoe Street, next Thursday from 6pm.
Special weekend hack-days are being held for the Mediated Garden Project, a collaboratively curated growing space on the roof of the FACT building.

@SMCliv has been running since June 2010 on a not so monthly basis but has had some fantastic events and talks from across the Social Media spectrum. Their latest event on the 2nd August at Static Gallery and will consist of a series of talks on Open Data and Open Data projects.
Open Data has enormous economic potential, from developing new markets to creating services for local government.
They are now collecting suggestions for their 6th September event but it could be you!
You like Jam right! Well, do you like Raspberry Pie sorry Raspberry Pi - if you know what Raspberry Pi is then this event coming up in August is just for you. It's all part of OggCamp - the free culture Unconference which will see 300 developers, technologists & artists gather for this unique event that celebrates all things Free and Open Source.
A couple of items have come up on my Rights and IP radar, first off is this Building Digital Capacity for the Arts seminar from Arts Council England coming up on the 9th July in London. The event is aimed at arts and arts organisatons and aims to:
• outline the range of different elements of IP involved in artistic content
• share insights into different approaches to securing and clearing rights
• develop delegates’ understanding of the issues and potential solutions to rights clearances
Secondly the video from the Who Owns It seminar at FACT on the 12th June is now available to consume online. With talks by Ben Prangell a lawyer from Shipley IP and Joscelyn Upendran a lawer from Creative Commons UK.
This baby is gonna be lovely so let's celebrate as we finally have a Mini Makerfaire in the region. It's on the 28th-29th July, and just down the road in Manchester so will definitely be worth a visit. so if you like robots, and electronics and the Internet of Things then this event is just for you
