The Costa del Sol, which has been a Mecca for tourists for over 30 years and accounts for 40% of the tourism in Andalucia, represents a significant milestone in the roll out of New Mind’s international strategy.
Richard Veal, managing director of New Mind, said: “Two years ago we invested in ‘globalising’ the software in order to be able to ‘localise’ it for various international markets, including the Spanish market, and the investment has come to fruition. The Costa del Sol is arguably the jewel in the crown of Spain’s coastal holiday destinations, with more than 17 million overnight stays per year, and we are delighted that our software has been chosen by the Costa del Sol Tourist Board.”
New Mind, which recently moved into new offices on Brunswick Business Park, Liverpool, has appointed licensed DMS resellers in Spain, Brazil and Italy to support its international growth plans and is in talks with companies in several other countries, including Greece.
New Mind’s Spanish resellers, Vilau, played an instrumental role in securing the contract with the Costa del Sol Tourist Board, in what was a rigorous tender process. New Mind and Vilau were selected due to the breadth of functionality and flexibility provided by the DMS, its ability to integrate with complimentary systems, and New Mind’s track record in boosting online bookings and visitor numbers for destinations in the UK.
The new Costa del Sol website, which goes live in August 2010, will be powered by New Mind’s sophisticated Spanish version of the DMS. Vilau will design and build the new site, and additional language versions of the site will also be launched.
Ricardo Gonzalez, Vilau’s technology director said:
“Vilau is delighted to face the challenge of introducing New Mind´s DMS to the Spanish Tourism Market. This renowned solution, widely deployed in other markets, will enable new models of collaboration for the public and private sector and will contribute to the comprehensive development of the Costa del Sol region's tourism industry."
New Mind has picked up a string of UK contract wins in recent months for sites including Visit Lincolnshire and Visit Nottinghamshire.
It is also preparing to welcome an international tourism student from Italy’s University of Lugano, who will be learning more about New Mind’s Italian DMS system during a four month placement in Liverpool.
Visitors to destination web sites can book accommodation online, buy tickets to events and attractions and provide profiling information for targeted information, news and special offers.
