Liverpool Cafe Scientific - Why Mars?

whymarsThe next meeting of Liverpool Cafe Scientifique takes place on Tuesday 10th April in the Old Conference Room at the Hope Street Hotel, Hope Street L1. It starts at 7.30pm.
 
It is entitled: Why Mars?
 

Ashley Dale of the School of Engineering, University of Liverpoo,l will give a talk based on having spent some time locked in a Mars simulation environment as an engineer in a crew of six. He will share his experience of the Mars Desert Research Station. He will explore the economic, social, and philosophical implications of sending a manned-mission to Mars, and will walk through the challenges faced. He will put forward the best-going plan for how such a mission could be carried out, and will look towards terraforming and colonisation of the Red Planet.
