Ashley Dale of the School of Engineering, University of Liverpoo,l will give a talk based on having spent some time locked in a Mars simulation environment as an engineer in a crew of six. He will share his experience of the Mars Desert Research Station. He will explore the economic, social, and philosophical implications of sending a manned-mission to Mars, and will walk through the challenges faced. He will put forward the best-going plan for how such a mission could be carried out, and will look towards terraforming and colonisation of the Red Planet.
