NEWSFunding cuts for Arts Council England -
Looks like the Arts Council are facing further funding cuts - I hope that means the end of their West Minster offices. They should have moved out years ago - they stay as it means they are close to government so they can argue for the arts well it hasn't helped them so time to move.
Statement from Dame Liz Forgan, Chair of Arts Council England: “We all knew this year would be tough. We do not understand why we have received a higher percentage cut than other DCMS funded bodies. Making cuts within the financial year is very difficult. We will now need to carefully assess what this figure of £19m means. The Arts Council has already trimmed its own budgets by £4 million in 2010/11 so this takes our total reduction this year to £23 million.
