Lorelei Loveridge is a Canadian artist who lived for 11 years in Saudi Arabia, pre and post 9/11, and loved it. She experienced religious zealots, compound invasions, a terrorist chase, earthquake, tsunami, war in Lebanon, crazy drivers, nutty expats and more and survived to tell the tales in story and song.
Passing through the UK en route to Canada, Loveridge returns to the View Two from another year abroad, this time in Doha, Qatar, with some new and old songs and stories – and a brand spankin’ new penchant for the ukulele. Performing with Loveridge will be her long-time UK bassist Heather Greenbank and darbuka drummer Debbie Busby.
Lorelei's album Bakhoor can be bought from CD Baby and iTunes.

The 'Growing Signs' EP also attracted attention from across the pond, with 'Sold Down the River', taken from the recordings featuring in the closing credits of US thriller 'Dry Run'. This set of songs, which Joe refers to as a 'family', only just begins to show the potential of this young songwriter's talent. 'I made this record with nothing more than sheer love, heartache and a lack of natural light', Joe explains when asked about the the EP.
Recorded in isolation in a basement in his hometown, deep within the Staffordshire Moorlands, it's hard not to hear the honesty of his words and the restrained arrangements of the songs shine through in this heartfelt collection of songs. With plans already set for the recording of his next EP, Joe continues to gig heartily around Liverpool and the rest of the UK, so be sure to keep an eye out for this gifted young songwriter.
The Big I Am are Liverpool duo Colin Heaney and Peter McPartland. These fine musicians have created a glorious blend of acoustic folk-pop. At its core the tenor ukulele and cuatro. Their debut album Collecting Skies, has been released on Folkwit records and has received excellent reviews.
"A stunningly lush album, using an unusual instrumental core of cuatro, piano and ukulele (plucked pizzicato, rather than strummed), augmented by expansive and melodramatic string, brass and woodwind arrangements. All this is hung around actual songs which are uplifting and beautiful. Remember the first time you heard Elbow's One Day Like This? It's that good. Don't let this one get away. If you only listen to one track, start with the title track "Collecting Skies".
What Does It All "Mean"?: It's life enhancing. It's like a long hug from your very best friend after a hard day.
Goes well with...: Late evening with a bottle of red. Or in a comfortable bed with the speakers up loud and your eyes closed.
Might Suit People Who Like...: Elbow. Talk Talk. Arco. Bjork." Word Magazine
