Art in Liverpool FM goes Live
Art in Liverpool FM goes Live as this independent project switches on.
Today we bring you our daily podcast featuring what shows are opening today, an update from Liverpool Acoustic Music with a fresh music each day and Sound art from Padriag Timony a one time resident of the city and more Sound Art from Sunshine Gray who played on Tuesday night at the AV festival.

La Dolce Vita
Liverpool-based artists Alan Dunn and David Jacques have collaborated with the immediate community around Rotunda Community College and various parties from Naples including napoliest on the production of La Dolce Vita, a temporary 80x10ft cinematic artwork across three billboards outside Rotunda. The composition has drawn imagery and narratives – both real and fictionalised - from community contributions around notions of Italophilia and Liverphilia as exemplified by the 1950’s trend of holidaying around the Bay of Naples. Woven across the billboards are conversations and reflections on Diego Maradona, routes across Naples and the set of photographs taken of the Bay Of Naples in 1960 by Peter Forster.
The billboards will be accompanied by an Italian-flavoured event at Rotunda, including an outdoor screening of La Dolce Vita, on Saturday 20th September 2008.

Art in Liverpool FM - volunteer reporters wanted
Defnet Media and artinliverpool.com are offering a unique opportunity to take part in an exciting new project. For two weeks during the Liverpool Biennial 20 September - 20 November, Defnet Media will be producing and presenting downloadable audio, which will include daily updates, interviews, performance recordings, reviews, artist talks, drama and sound art – Art in Liverpool FM plans to inform and entertain.
If you are interested in being one of our reporters then Art in Liverpool FM wants to hear from you - we want to you produce audio content to be featured on Art in Liverpool FM.
UN-CONVENTION – New music industry event
The event, under the banner of ‘Un-convention’ is specifically aimed at the grass roots of the music industry, and aims to stimulate debate and ideas around how those at the cutting edge of new music can adapt and prosper.
Artistic Republic Of Garstons First Garden Party
In May Garston declared the Artistic Republic Of Garston and Cultural Independence from Liverpool when 700 people took to the streets of Garston. The disused school in Wellington Street is now Garstons Cultural Embassy brainchild of artist Michael Trainer. The Garston Embassy is complete with giant electric palm trees, transparent fountain, working olive oil mine, a maze and a balcony full of animated waving dignitaries.Garden Party and Barbeque
Garston Cultural Village are holding a Summer Garden Party with a difference at the Embassy. It is Free, as well as an opportunity to view the Embassy there will be Clowns, Jugglers, Face Painting, Art Workshops live music and the chance to meet and draw the President.

Lipa radio - Culture by Richard Shaw
An idealist actor and the activist artist unhappy with the way that their (lack of ) careers are progressing take direct action by unfurling a flag of Jimmy Tarbuck on Radio City Tower. Eddy is the rogue artist with attitude and by far the more interesting character.
Their comment on the lack of opportunities for creatives to find work in the city celebrated as the Cultural Capital is clear, but how it will develop I wait to see.

This is the first of four weekly podcasts in association with moves08, in which audio and video art exploring the theme of this year's moves festival, the interaction of movement and sound, has been selected from an international open call. For the first week two audio and three video pieces have been brought together, all of which have a shared wit and communicative sensibility.

The Great Barred
Week after week they visit a different pub and bring along teh accassional family member. One week they visited the Waterloo in Runcorn made famous for it's use as The Archers pub from Two pints of larger and packet of Crisps, the BBC3 TV comedy set in Runcorn. Kirsty informs us that this pub is only the exterrior shot used in two pints, and the interior is modeled on a pub around the corner, but even so worth a visit. They says it has a good juke box and friendly punters offering them pirate DVD's for sale.
They've been to the Swan, FACT's pop quiz, the Mersey Ferry and many other great cultural institutions - it's a great podcast and draws you in to listen more.
