TATE - Colour Chart: Reinventing Colour, 1950 to Today
29 May  –  13 September 2009

At a time of unprecedented interest in the role of colour in graphic design, fashion and interior design, Tate Liverpool will be presenting Colour Chart: Reinventing Colour, 1950 to Today. The exhibition looks at the moment in twentieth-century art, when a group of artists began to perceive colour as 'readymade' rather than as scientific or expressive. This rich and vibrant exhibition is the first major exhibition devoted to the significance of colour in contemporary art and will include works by more than forty artists, including Ellsworth Kelly, Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter, Frank Stella, Yves Klein, Richard Serra, John Baldessari, Dan Flavin, Damien Hirst, David Batchelor, Jim Lambie, Angela Bulloch and Cory Archangel.

Mike McCartney was at the Beat Goes On exhibition in the World Museum Liverpool today to launch his ‘mini ’60s’ show of 4 of his photographs. There’s 2 pictures of his brother Paul McCartney with John Lennon rehearsing in the Cavern and 2 pictures of Mike’s own group the Scaffold. These and some others from Mike’s collection will be moving onto the new Museum of Liverpool when it opens in late 2010.

As one of the final events or the Climate for Change show at FACT there was a Sustainable Fashion show tonight in the gallery. In fact, there were two shows, both fully booked and very good, lots of inventive ideas and not too many bin bags in sight. Its given us a few ideas and Minako’s already sorting through that bag of old clothes thats been waiting to go to the charity shop for ages.  All the items were made by local designers from recycled materials and the show was introduced by Kirsty Doyle.
