The 62nd edition of Rathole Radio is upon us. This time I played my usual eclectic mix of music and also performed a rather interesting live song. My impression of Brad Roberts low singing style went astray in parts but should make for an entertaining listen. So settle in and enjoy the music.

TRANNY HOTEL FUNDING SUCCESS

Following the recent announcement of the UK premiere of international Transgender arts festival, Tranny Hotel, to be held at Liverpool's iconic Adelphi Hotel from Fri 11 – Sun 13 November, organisers were delighted to hear that the project has been awarded an arts council grant.

The funding has enabled the festival to produce a series of workshops, which will take place in the week leading up to Tranny Hotel on the 7th 9th and 10th of November, at the Bluecoat, led by Transgender artists including organiser Mandy Romero. The funding is also allowing organisers to run a performance workshop as part of the festival weekend with renowned performer, author and journalist Adam Lowe.

Social Media Cafe Liverpool have announced a reboot (yeah it's a phrase from them there comics). There hasn't been a SMC Liverpool since February and as they state there was loads going on that week, I should know I was involved.  Now they want your involvement. 

They are thinking about a restarting Social Media Cafe Liverpool and they need your input. Here is what they say

"I have been thinking about a reboot of Social Media Cafe Liverpool for some time as it is a bit overdue as the last event, sorry the last brilliant event in February. There was loads going on that week and since then we have sat back and taken it easy, well actually just got on with other stuff."

Martha Lane Fox is coming to town to promote the Race Online. What's that I hear you say well it's all about getting people online not some people having a virtual race using connect controllers.

Liverpool has an appalling record for the numnber of people who aren't online or have access to online resources on a daily basis. One of the reasons behind How Why DIY is to encourage people to get online and not be afraid of using technology. See the Liverpool Digital Inclusion Strategy Framework (google doc) for a real lack of ambition.  

Martha is going to have a busy day on 1st November 2011 as she is first at the Liverpool Innovation Park talking about "How can business close the digital divide?" and then at FACT Liverpool for the Roy Stringer Lecture. You can probably still attend both if you are quick enough. 

I'm sure I have written about this but if not then here goes. On Friday the 18th and Saturday the 19th of November DoES Liverpool will be holding Bar Camp Liverpool in Gostins Building, Hanover Street.

If you're not familiar with the Bar Camp concept they are participant led unconferences where the talks and discussions that take place are set by the people attending - anyone can and is encouraged to run a session on any topic they want so the whole event is driven by the conversations and interactions of the people attending.

Another Rathole Radio is upon us. My first from the newly relocated studio. I haven’t moved into some expensive purpose built studio, I’ve just moved everything from my bedroom to the spare room. It’s working out well so far though. I hope you’ll enjoy my usual eclectic mix of music and also a quick live performance.
