A quick video rewind of Social Media Cafe Liverpool from earlier this week. The action all took place the Liverpool Biennial visitors centre and it was a really good evening - so if you missed it you can catch up here but you won't be able to meet everyone in the pub afterwards. If you are interested in finding out when the events are taking place then join up to the mailing list available via the subscribe button on the left or follow @smcliv on twitter.

Social media Cafe - the art one

It’s great in Liverpool at the moment, the leaves may be falling from the tress but to make up for it we are surrounded by some world class won’t see it all in a weekend art, yep the the Liverpool Biennial is on, the derelict shops are no longer, now they are full of images that intrigue, inspire and excite us. So this month we decided to have a look at the way that arts organisations big and small use social media.

We will be being joined by Antony Pickthall from the Liverpool Biennial to guide us through the story of putting together a social media campaign for an international event, the perils and pitfalls but the successes too.

From the big to the small with the Fab Collective, a Liverpool based photography collective – they’ll enlighten us with what they gained by collaborating and how Social Media is developing for the world of photography.

Plus, we bring you an open source issue - Feng Office Suite – the story of an arts based collaborative software. But where does it go from here – where to take it? Help is needed to answer this one so bring your thinking caps.

How Why DIY and all that

A couple of weeks back now  (I've been a bit busy with other stuff) a group of us from How Why DIY got together to produce How? Why? DIY! Day. We had been trying to put together an event like this since November 2009 but no time seemed like a good time. Finally after a few mis-starts we managed to secure of space in the Nerve Centre on 22nd August. I wanted to share here some of the images from me and the Video from Warren Makin.

Throbbing Nerve Centre of Cultural radicalism

Yes.....Everything you have ever wanted from one of the most politically radical cities in the world a base for workshops, exhibitions, events and your radical ideas. No not a squat and only temporary but it's going to be upfront and personal and promises four weeks of explosive art, film, discussion, music and poetry raising the issues others do not have the nerve to raise.

No musical experience necessary! A perfect opportunity to make that screechy sound when you rub your fingers over electrical contacts. Yep you can get a chance and making music with your favourite Liverpool bands as Soundnetwork announces it's DIY Music Day.
