About the workshop:
The workshop does not assume any prior knowledge of accounts or finance.
The workshop is not a 'lecture' but an opportunity for people to learn using examples that are accessible, interesting and appropriate.
Participants work in groups, working on a fictional but realistic business case, making decisions about project costing, depreciation, cash flow and profitability.
There are opportunities to ask questions and discuss issues in a non-intimidating atmosphere.
The workshop is designed to ensure it is accessible - and even 'fun'!
By the end of the day workshop participants will:
Understand the main concepts and 'jargon' used in finance and accounts, such as: Depreciation; Fixed and Variable Costs; Gross Profit and Net Profit, Accruals and Prepayments, Income and Expenditure (as distinct from receipts and payments).
Be able to understand - and use - the information given in Balance Sheets, Income and Expenditure Accounts, and Cash Flow forecasts.
Be able to cost projects and prepare budgets to ensure they cover both the direct costs and a proportion of indirect costs (overheads) - and make a profit.
Because of the intensive nature of this workshop a £10 non-refundable administration fee will apply. Click here to register.
Creative Finance is delivered by David Parrish, a specialist creative industries business adviser and trainer, who works internationally. For more information see: www.davidparrish.com
Light lunch and refreshments throughout the day will be provided.
"The workshop was extremely enjoyable and positive and most of all useful! I now know and understand considerably more about finance than I did this morning and now accounts don't scare me!" Ivan Davies. Catalyst OS Ltd. Liverpool
