David Gibb is a young acoustic artist from Derbyshire whose music has been described as "good old-fashioned jovial, quirky, British pop music" (Sandman Magazine).
Growing up firmly attached to the Derby music scene, David has honed his skills playing and touring with local bands and over the last couple of years has focused on his solo material. After self releasing his debut EP in November 2007, he set about piecing together a group of close friends to support him on the road and in the studio.
2008 proved to be an exciting year for David on the airwaves and on the road, receiving national airplay on BBC Radio 2, as well as playing a live collaborative session for BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens with award winning hip hop producer Baby J. On the road he has supported the likes of Sam Isaac, Peggy Sue and Frank Turner.
With the band firmly in place he travelled to Wales to record his debut album - Apple In My Teeth - during the summer of 2008. The first single to be taken from the album; 'The English Retreat' was released January 12th 2009 through independent label Fuse Records and sold out of 100 limited edition copies in just two weeks.
Apple In My Teeth can be bought from iTunes, Amazon, hmv.com, and Play.com - and the single This Young Boy is also on iTunes

Following the release of her EP, “Hungry,” in 2008, she played a host of venues and festivals across the UK including support for Chris Wood, J.D Souther and Jim Moray. She’s made several appearances on BBC Radio including a live performance on Radio 3. Her debut album - Company of Ghosts - was released by Fellside Recordings on April 26th, 2010. You can read the Liverpool Acoustic review here.
She is also an award winning playwright, with her most recent stage play “Intemperance,” receiving a 5 star review in The Guardian. Her play with songs, “The Singer”, was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in November 08 and she co-composed the soundtrack to her short film, “Monkey Love”, broadcast on Channel 4 in September 2009.
"The listener's mesmerised by the quality of rather vulnerable enchantment in her fragile tremelo, which is complimented by the delicate, often weirdly toyshop nature of the accompaniment...There's a touch of Kate Bush in Lizzie's resolute (yet quite natural) eccentricity." David Kidman, Properganda magazine
"'Company of Ghosts' is a scintillating collection of new songs that reach into the very soul... full of powerful meaningful lyrics and sang with the most wonderfully sublime enchanting voice that falls somewhere between Kate Bush and Dolores Keane.” Martin Mannering, The Irish World
"Hugely impressive lyrics and delicate acoustic backing... the whole production and feel of the disc is much more than you'd expect from a debut release. She's certainly a real talent, and one to watch for the future..." Neil Pearson Fish Records/Shrewsbury Folk Festival
Company of Ghosts is available to buy from the following places. Fellside Recordings News From Nowhere (Bold Street) Amazon Fish Records
