The Go penguins are here. The artinliverpool.com one, Splashy by Julie Dodd is here on Hope Street and looks great outside the former art college. Pick up the trail map from tourist info or merseyrail or online www.gopenguins.co.uk and there is a gallery of all the penguins on artinliverpool.com. Liverpool's Christmas lights are on, there's late night Thursdays with street performers, ice skating, markets, grottos, Ice palaces etc. And the Big Liverpool ONE Wheel will be in Chavasse Park until end of January. Also loads of art and craft activities and events at Bluecoat

DaDaFest launched - excellent show by Liz Crow called Resistance at CUC and the Rolling Gallery at Open Eye and Sally Booth at Bluecoat. All until 5 December. At Editions - the Liverpool Open (Christmas) Exhibition organised by LOACA Arts is good. Plenty of affordable artworks. Runs until 9 January 2010

' shows the latest work of the painter, Frances Heyes. She has recently been experimenting with textured surfaces to produce large paintings. Using acrylic paint on canvas and textured paper, she produces abstract pieces using strong, vibrant colours. Venue details
