The Liverpool element of the North West Visual Arts Open takes place from 2 to 3 March 2012, with an exciting programme of free public events taking place in galleries across the city. Two further North West Open Arts weekends are planned in Manchester and Cumbria/Lancashire in April and May this year.
A new type of film event is coming to Liverpool's vibrant arts scene, but one which you need to keep your eyes peeled and your wits about you to catch. On the 6 and 7 March 2012, Reel Unknown invites you to enter a secret world, its Hidden Picture Show, and explore the unknown. The film that will be shown? A secret. The event's location? Undisclosed. Avid film fans will have to follow subtle clues revealed via twitter and facebook regarding these vital factors, opening the debate on which unique adventure ticket holders will discover.
Like you, we care passionately about the arts and culture scene in Liverpool, so we thought we would put together a few suggestions of things to do this week and what's coming up soon. It is of course mostly what we're interested in but I hope you like them to.

Two Four One One by Grace Surman and Cathy Butterworth is on at the bluecoat next month. A performance peice - live art they say. Most probably some strange live art peice - but from what I have heard and if you like strange and out of the ordinary then this could be good.
This Thursday Night the new Penny Lane Art Gallery will be graced by Jon Roseman for thirty-five years a leading agent and video producer, who lived through a near-daily diet of dramas, crises and tantrums from some of the worlds biggest rock stars and TV celebrities.
Sense of Sound announces the Voices Festival, this weekend - a three day celebration of a cappella singing, set to take place at Liverpool’s Bluecoat and Black-E arts centres from Friday 16 – Sunday 18 March.
Liverpool Acoustic Live's 3rd birthday bash takes place on Friday 24th February 2012 at the View Two Gallery on Mathew Street, and they've got a busy night!
In the wake of the closure of greenroom, Manchester's home for experimental theatre and performance, comes a brand new enterprise: Word of Warning, a pop-up programme of new performance, coming to a Manchester space very soon.
Launching on Friday 17 February at Zion Arts Centre in Hulme, Manchester with long-standing greenroom favourites Third Angel's new show What I Heard About The World, Word of Warning promises a season of the bizarre, the beautiful and the best new shows for anyone looking for a different night out.

The Winter Arts Market at St George’s Hall, Liverpool - Sat 3rd & Sun 4th December 2011, 10am-5pm
