This years sound city music conference promises to be better than ever with a barnd new venue - the Hilton Hotel 19th-20th May, with Seymour Stein and Ian McCulloch

The Hard Days Night Hotel is the past and now we have the Hilton and there could be no better opportunity to see the inside and of course attend a great Music Conference. In past years these conferences have been really useful and informative to the musicians starting out in the industry (according to my trusted source)  - Last year it was mostly LIPA students that got to go along but the local music scene really does need to go to this Conference. So start booking those days off work.

As well as the iconic Ian McCulloch of Echo & the Bunnymen fame playing a rare intimate gig in the grand setting of St George’s Concert Room, he will also be joining the legendary Seymour Stein in conversation for a Keynote address at the Liverpool Sound City Music Business Conference at The Hilton Hotel on Wed 19th and Thu 20th May. It’s an un-missable opportunity to talk to Ian, Seymour and many more high-profile industry people and ask all those questions you always wanted to know the answers to about the music industry.

Also appearing at this year’s conference are Brandon Young and Tim Riley - ActiVision Games USA, the major player in the gaming industry responsible for the hugely successful title Guitar Hero, Bernard Resnick, one of the brilliant business brains behind the phenomenon that is Lady GaGa, Patrik Larsson - Headlock Management one of Scandinavia’s top management companies, Mark Jonesfrom the uber-cool record label Wall of Sound, Geoff Meall - The Agency Group who looks after acts including Muse, Doves, Paramore etc. Julian Wall, Director Independent Member Services and International Events for British Recorded Music Industry (BPI) UK, Brent Grulke, creative director, South by South West USA, Alicen SchneiderNBC Universal USA, and many more.

One of the highlights from last year's conference was 1. trying to book in on a computer system that needed hand cranking - Lets hope they have sorted that out. But also getting to listen to the Industry experts, especially the games industry experts - take your one track and multiply it many thousands of times on the latest release from a games giant or feature film and you could be sitting back and racking it in. It reminds me of an old colleague who had his music in a film released last year, It was a high profile movie even if I have forgotten the name of it but each year he received his royalties maybe only £700 all the same it's not to be sniffed at. SO GET ALONG TO THE CONFERENCE

A full Delegate Pass is all that’s needed to take part in the industry respected conference

The live music line up for Sound City also continues to grow, this week’s announcements on Wednesday 19 May is Jim Jones Revueplaying the Zanzibar and The Phenomenal Handclap Band at Masque Theatre on 20th May.
