Can Liverpool develop a commercial arts sector?
If so what are the conditions that will allow this to happen?
Static Gallery have been commissioned by Culture Liverpool to carry out research - in the form of two public events - that will examine the current position of Liverpool’s commercial arts sector and what possibilities lie ahead.
This public consultation meeting, chaired by Static and Quad Collective will present the initial ideas and framework for ‘Developing a commercial arts sector’ in the form of a ten minute presentation then the discussion will be opened to the floor.

The debate will bring together a group of leading thinkers on the art market and will present a series of case studies in how international non-capital cities have developed commercial art sectors. The discussion will analyse the cultural, business and urban infrastructures required.
The one-day event includes two discursive sessions, one evening debate and a micro-art fair with refreshments/breaks. The event will invite existing and new contacts to join in a public debate on how Liverpool can develop a sustainable commercial art sector, building on previous research carried out between September and December 2014.
