ONO-e-inviteONE NIGHT ONLY

An evening of celebration and fundraising for Urban Strawbery Lunch (USL) and St Luke’s (bombed out) Church

Friday 9th September at St Luke’s from 6.30 pm.

USL have worked closely with the Fab Collective since 2009, when they held their first exhibition at St Luke’s. Since then they have returned for two more exhibitions, and been a major contributor to our Hollywood Homeless project.

When it was announced earlier this year that USL will receive a 100% cut in Arts Council England Funding the Fab Collective decided that action was needed, and rather than holding their annual exhibition at St Luke’s offered instead to auction the work that would have formed the exhibition. All the money raised from the auction will be donated to USL – the Collective having also paid for the production costs.

The Auction will be undertaken by Nick Bray of Partridge Bray Auctioneers, Liverpool’s newest auction house and sale room. Nick has agreed to donate his time for free to the event, and he is inviting his partner Adam Partridge (Flog It!) and former colleague Cathy Hawkes (who has also worked with USL in the past) to join him.

And word of the event has spread, with a number of local musicians adding their voice to the cause: local legends John Head (Shack), and Barry Sutton (Fabian Rothschilde/The La’s/Space);  as well as local band Mervyn Gersh and the Hope Street Harmonies choir all donating performances to make this a really special evening. Additionally SHAP Ltd are providing PA and technical equipment for the evening, and local visual artist Bernie Howden has donated a wonderful oil on acrylic painting to the auction.

There will be a licensed bar, where we will serve real ale from the Liverpool One brewery as well as a variety of wine, lager, cider and soft drinks.

USL’s funding cut amounts to £35,000; and together the Fab Collective, Nick Bray and the artists aim to raise in excess of £1,000 towards this target.

The pictures to be auctioned are available to view at www.fabcollective.com ; and if you would like to place a commission bid (maximum or fixed price) for any of the lots  you can do so by emailingThis email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and noting their name, contact details, lot number and maximum bid. Commissioned bids must be received by 23.59 hours on Thursday 8th September.

Your invitation is attached and we hope that you can join us. If you are unable to attend but would like to support USL and our work at St Luke’s you can send us a donation via your mobile phone – just text USD01 £10 to 70070. Texts cost your normal network rate, and you will receive a confirmation that also gives you the option to gift aid your donation.
