LIVERPOOL DESIGN FESTIVAL PRESENTS: INTERCHANGE FILM SCREENINGS FOLLOWED BY Q&A AT METAL

Interchange is a special screening of three works by Liverpool based designers and artists; Jon Barraclough, Sam Meech and Markus Soukup. Each of the works has been developed with other artists and in relation to other artistic practices such as spoken word and music.

The screenings will be followed by an artist talk and Q & A about the way in which designers and artists from different disciplines collaborate and influence one another in the creative process.

Wed 24th November

Time: 6.30pm – 9.00pm

==================

"Breath Across Autumnal Ground" by Jon Barraclough and Sohrab Uduman (2010)

Liverpool based artist Jon Barraclough has collaborated with Sri Lankan composer Sohrab Uduman to create a shadow and colour animation based around the relationship between the natural and man-made worlds. Both the audio recordings and the real-time movie footage are processed using digital technology to create an alternative contemporary counterpoint that plays with the link between how music is composed and the act of drawing.

"Noahs Ark" a film by Sam Meech, words by Nathan Jones, music and fx by Carl Brown

Noah's Ark is a poetic re-telling of the biblical tale, made entirely using footage from the North West Film Archive, with a score by Carl Brown (Wave Machines) and a layered spoken narrative from Nathan Jones.

Exploring the idea of preservation amidst an oncoming flood, the film uses archive footage to explore the difficulties in maintaining personal memories and cultural heritage within a shifting digital landscape.

"Before Love" by Nathan Jones and Markus Soukup

Poet, Nathan Jones approached New Media artist Markus Soukup to develop a visual interpretation for his poem 'Before Love'.

Soukup produced a virtual camera movement through a relatively abstract 3D-environment, which functions as a time-based situation unfolding a space of free interpretation for the listener/spectator.
