Catholic Guilt

Watching a Claude Chabrol film that i saw for first time on tv in the seventies. Ive started to wonder if what i assumed was an element of catholic?? guilt in my life is actually the result of string arrangements in seventies thrillers. The same menacing sounds accompony both bloodythirsty murders and mild couplings. Not sure when or if film directors stopped doing this but if anyone else associates flirtation with the theme to jaws then we need to talk.
