Corringham & Thomas Recorded 04 October 2002 at Bluecoat Arts Centre as part of the Frakture Festival
This was a duo that played in our 2002 festival. Avery skittish duo would be a good way to describe them. It seemed no sound they made lasted longer than, or even as long, as a second. Music on the move you might say. Look at http://hometown.aol.co.uk/vivdc/

Bohman Brothers (2003) Recorded at Bluecoat Arts Centre

Written by

Fraktured

The Bohman Brothers are a London based duo that used to run the Bonnington Centre in Vauxhall. They are non-instrument based players whose performances are often wonderfully funny. Looking at http://www.xs4all.nl/~lukas/pagina/bohmans.htm will give you more extensive and better information than I could. Adam

Track Length 5.10

Adam Bohman (toys and other things), Jonathon Bohman (assorted stuff)

Bergmark & Morton

Bergmark & Morton

Johannes Bergmark is a Swedish musician based in Poland whilst Phil Morton is based in Toxteth. J. Bergmark sometimes lies in a coffin and growls. Here though, he has made a table with all kinds of objects on it, which are amplified. Phil Morton likes to find objects and then find sounds from these found objects. Go and look at www.bergmark.org/

Track length 27.04
Johannes Bergmark (homemade amplified instruments) & Phil Morton (accidents and treatments)

Mick Beck (04 October 2002) Recorded at Bluecoat Arts Centre at the Frakture Festival.

Mick Beck is a Sheffield based saxophonist and bassooner of staggering power and virtuosity. So far, I think he is the only improvising bassoon player on Frakture’s list. He also runs Discus Records. Go look at http://efi.group.shef.ac.uk/mbeck.html

Arc (2000) recorded at Bluecoat Arts Centre

Arc (2000) recorded at Bluecoat Arts Centre

This was on of the first Frakture gigs I attended. It’s funny as it’s, for me, one of the best examples of the recording not being able to capture of intensity of what was happening in the room of the night. That’s not to say I don’t like the recording, its that for me, it bears very little relation to what I heard/felt on the night. Though, in actuality, this happens a lot. The musicians were predominantly based around London – and regular visitors to Liverpool in numerous different groupings.  Adam.

Go and look at www.marksanders.me.uk/efi.group.shef.ac.uk/mthomas.html

Amere3 (2002) Recorded at Bluecoat Arts Centre

This was recorded during the 2002 Frakture Festival Phil Hargreaves was one of the founders of Frakture, and is a player of mostly sax, and flute and cello. And he composed too. Rob Dainton’s drumming is nothing short of exhilarating and engrossing whilst Simon Fell is rightly one of the most appeared visiting musicians at Frakture, and a great double bass player who now appears too infrequently because he lives in France.

Look at http://www.whi-music.co.uk/ and www.brucesfingers.co.uk/info/biog.html and http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=182195915 who really should have made himself a Myspace page with music.

Track Length 10.18

Phil Hargreaves (sax / flute) Rob Dainton (drums) Simon Fell (double bass)
