Prehistoric Autopsy at SciBar

The next Liverpol SciBar is entitled Prehistoric Autopsy so head along but make sure you have eaten first.

Following the BBC Two series Prehistoric Autopsy, Dr Isabelle De Groote, gives an insight into three of the most iconic members of our prehistoric family: A Neanderthal, a Homo erectus and an Australopithecus afarensis. The talk will explore what they looked like, how they lived, how they compare with us today and how we ended up being the only human species left.

Mobile ticketing from LSO

Interesting video into the use of Mobile Ticketing by the London Symphony Orchestra, who along with Kodime (the digital Agency) and Salford University are testing mobile marketing and ticketing, allowing students to purchase discounted concert tickets through mobile apps. The apps will also use location data to show events nearby and allow students to share comments via social media. This is an Arts Council England funding project.

I can see there being more more use of this kind of individual organisational apps in the future, but the interesting bit is really when they start joining up and cross promoting events using each others apps.

Enjoy

Kin2Kin social and thinking event

ACME, Liverpool's creative sector developement agency are having 2 events on the 15th November at Leaf Cafe on Bold Street, a Thinking Session and a Social sesssion. We are all more familiar with their Social sessions I beleive, have a couple of free drinks and chat to people that we know. But the Thinking sessions are new from Kin2Kin and are a look at specific insdustry issues in Liverpool. They are there to offer help and advice to those who have been working in the sector some time or just starting out....

The details of Thinking session 2 and social are below

The first ever Liverpool Knowledge Festival will take place from October 13-27th, and it's looking good, with talks, events and lectures, the Nanomedicine event looks interesting but it's invitation only.

It's the first one and it's just what the city needs so a big thanks to the collaborative power of the the City Council, the city's three Universities, Liverpool Science Park and the Royal Liverpool University Hospitals for bringing it to us.

Check out the programme below.
