News from Open Labs

It's been awhile since the last Open Labs newsletter but they have been busy with lots of Drone activity amongst much more. You can catch up here.

Hello from the Open Labs Team @ LJMU

It has been a while since we’ve been in touch but we really hope you’re glad to hear from us. We’ve been involved in some exciting things and so we wanted to take the time to update you on where we’re up to.

Through the delivery of innovative activities like unconferences, hack days and co-working activities, and through arranging inspirational talks from international speakers, we have seen over 6000 people at our events since our launch at the end of 2011. We’ve worked with many of you on specific opportunities in areas as diverse as smart cities, eHealth, civilian drones and sensors. Our partners range from corporates like BT, Government bodies such as the Technology Strategy Board and Science and Innovation Network, regional bodies, for example the NWC Academic Health Science Network, local organisations including the Liverpool LEP, Mi/Liverpool CCG, Liverpool Vision and many local businesses as well as our colleagues from across the University.

We’d like to keep connecting you with new opportunities through our newsletters and emails. If you’re happy to receive these then we’ll send a newsletter at the end of the month and occasional emails when opportunities arise, if not then please unsubscribe below.

We do hope you’d like to be part of our continuing story.

Thanks and see you soon,

 But here is more......

GeoVation Housing Challenge: Open Data Masterclass

Open Labs is hosting Ordnance Survey's Open Data Masterclass. The workshop will give businesses the chance to get to grips with digital mapping data and understand how it can support their businesses, products, services and applications. The Masterclass will support the latest GeoVation Challenge, which is asking for solutions on ‘How can we enable people in Britain to live in better places?’ Enter the Challenge to win your share of £101,000 of funding.

North West Digital Health Challenge 2014

Open Labs worked with social innovation company So-Mo to deliver the North West Digital Health Challenge. National and regional partners set a number of health and care related challenges aimed at encouraging innovation in new digital applications or services. 12 companies pitched their digital products and services for health and social care – 5 of these won the opportunity to attend Digital Health 2014 in Stockholm, Sweden.
