Video: Open Source Entrepreneurship

DoESLiverpoolsquareA Fringe Event of the Global Entrepreneurship Congress, Open Source Entrepreneurship looked at ways entrepreneurs have found to mutually aid each others businesses for the good of all.

Especially in the technology sector, but across the start-up scene in general, Entrepreneurs are coming together to share commercial understanding. This is because business owners recognise they are more likely to thrive in the company of a strong local industry than they are in isolation. By assisting the growth of your competitor, you are adding value to your own company.

At Social Media Cafe Last month Franics Irving the CEO of Scraperwiki discussed digital nests and where will we be making our digital home in future, will it be facebook or will that have goine by then or will it be that smaller networks spring up and populated by area, such as the Liverpool Network etc. So how will we use Social Media in future? Some of the new platforms debuted at South by South West may help answer that question or do they just muddy the waters more.

Watch the video and come down to the next #SMCliv and contribute to the debate.

RatholeRadio 73 – 6th Mar 2012

A slightly overdue Rathole Radio this time. I missed the live show on Sunday unfortunately due to exhaustion, so I recorded this show offline instead. I skipped the live song but I did manage to cram in a bumper selection of eclectic music as always. Normal service will be resumed next time I promise.

storytotellLiverpool based Community Interest Company Pencil Trick Productions have created a brand new initiative in creative networking events.

These bi-monthly forums will be held across Liverpool and aim at connecting all sorts of creative people who have a "story to tell" with those people who have a means to tell them.

They are looking to to link scriptwriters with directors, bands with video producers, artists with gallerias, to name but a few. On a larger scale they also want to put local community groups and social enterprises who have something to tell the world in touch with the production companies, writers and videographers who can help them.

So if the Kin networking events aren't for you and let's face facts they aren't everyones cup of tea then this looks perfect.

A new type of film event is coming to Liverpool's vibrant arts scene, but one which you need to keep your eyes peeled and your wits about you to catch. On the 6 and 7 March 2012, Reel Unknown invites you to enter a secret world, its Hidden Picture Show, and explore the unknown. The film that will be shown? A secret. The event's location? Undisclosed. Avid film fans will have to follow subtle clues revealed via twitter and facebook regarding these vital factors, opening the debate on which unique adventure ticket holders will discover.
