Art in Liverpool FM

art in liverpool fm logo webIt's my own personal history project stretching back to 2007 - with hundreds of recorded interviews, podcasts and plays. This section of the site is pretty old so don't expect it to work all the time and ignore it asking for Real Player to be loaded.

So Listener beware!!!

NEWS

Enjoying the Big Art programme on Channel 4 each Sunday - 2 more to go.

FACT's Climate For Change is ending 31 May, lots and lots of one-off events, talks etc listed on their website and ends with a sustainable fashion show.

And speaking of fashion - Static want your old 'Trainees' to build a trainer monument (hope its outside ;). This somehow links up with Liverpool Sound City (20-23 May) and is also the start of Static's new Unit 4 project which sounds very exciting

UNIT 4 is a 2 year project that will occupy the main 2000 sq ft gallery space, the COFFEE BAR and KIOSK and associated studios at Static Gallery from 20th May 2009 to 30th March 2011.

UNIT 4 is a multi-disciplinary laboratory for ideas and practice that will propose new strategies for ART, ARCHITECTURE and PLANNING education and practice. UNIT 4 will not be a theoretical talk shop but will translate its core research into realised projects.

Rapid Events
Practitioners who visit UNIT 4 can propose a project that may be carried out the same day/following day/following week. Proposals will be heard daily in the Static Coffee Bar and will receive an answer within an hour. UNIT 4 will therefore engage daily in the processes of critically evaluating work in order to accept or decline a proposal. This will be done in public. Projects that are approved will be immediately promoted via mobile phone, email and the web in order to develop an audience.
Also Exhibitions, Discursive events, Screenings, Critical reviews etc. more news to follow

ROUND UP

The Bells! Ian enjoyed the rendition of Imagine by the Cathedral bells on Saturday, his video on youtube has proved very popular with lots of nice comments and is also on Yoko Ono's website.

Excellent show of prints by Japanese artist Nana Shiomi at Editions, 100 Views of Mitate, listen to the podcast interview for an explanation of Mitate.

Also good shows at Mocha Lounge and Novas CUC - 'On the Edge' which features a rather macabre installation by Anna Marie Quinn (on till 28 May) and Alan Smith's photography at Domino is very nice, he gave a talk about his methods, he experiments various types of camera including pinhole

Missed the rest of Manchester's Futuresonic and the one-night event at Coffee Republic and haven't seen the Sol leWit mural at Tate yet.

THIS WEEK

Last chance to see Matthew Houlding exhib at Ceri Hand Gallery
