If you can make it then this will be a aweseom reminder of when Powerplant played in Calderstones park a few years ago which proved immensely popular. This  Thursday 6th February, The Capstone Theatre presents Powerplant - an inspiring collaboration of top British artists, comprising percussionist Joby Burgess, sound designer Matthew Fairclough and visual artist Kathy Hinde for one night only.

In a lavish audio feast the worlds of minimalism and electronica collide as Powerplant present Steve Reich’s recently revitalized My Name Is and the landmark collaboration with composer Gabriel Prokofiev Import/Export - suite for global junk.

Music by Conlon Nancarrow and Max de Wardener is taken from Powerplant’s current album 24 Lies Per Second – heavy on live sampling, with traces of Franz Schubert and Michael Haneke.

‘Gabriel Prokofiev, a prominent figure in the alt-classical scene, had Joby Burgess, the soloist, coax all manner of sounds from the ox-like instrument, often wielding multiple sticks in each hand and even using his fingers and elbows … the words athleticism and stamina come to mind.’ - New York Times
