Chorlton Arts Festival, one of the leading, annual multi-arts festivals in the UK, is now inviting submissions for 2013.

They are looking for brand new performances in music, comedy, cabaret, spoken word and interactive events, as well as exhibitions and artworks in unexpected places.

They have introduced a theme of ‘Past, Present and Future’ to the arts section of our programme, which is open to interpretation by each submitting artist or performer. This is an exciting new approach for the festival and they hope it will generate some interesting and unique pieces for 2013.

Please note, the theme is only applicable to the arts submissions – the music and comedy programme does not have a set theme.

In 2012 they launched the Festival’s digital arts programme alongside the Chorlton Weekender, a celebration of new music and digital arts across a number of Chorlton venues. If you feel your application could be part of these exciting new strands in 2013, they’d love to hear from you. The Festival is committed to developing talent and supports artists and individuals who create new work which challenges and dares to be different.

These R&D projects are testing the use of digital technologies to widen audience access and engagement in the arts, with the purpose of developing useful products, services and knowledge for the wider the arts and cultural sector so surely we could be applying for some of this money here.
