A quick look at the areas that should be covered in a basic podcasting workshop.
1. Recording equipment
You can start at the bottom end of the scale or at the top end but most people will start at the bottom end of the scale, with a tape dictaphone or digital audio recorder.
Software
There is a variety of software out there for people to use, but what they choose will depend on the platform that they normally use – a PC- apple or Linux machine and on their ability to pay for an expensive piece of recording software.
- Audio editing
- Uploading
- Feeds and distribution
- Interview Skills
- Recording Equipment
- Editing sound files
- Online audio platforms
- Podcasting
At the end of the session a completed MP3 audio file ready for use.
People attending the workshop should bring with them any recording equipment you may have, for example
- an iPod
- Tape Recorder
- Digital Recorder
- Digital Camera (they can sometimes record audio)
- Mobile Phone
But also bring leads that attach these to a PC. If they have a Microphone they should bring this too, preferably with a 3.5mm jack.
