Art in Liverpool FM

art in liverpool fm logo web

It’s my own personal history project stretching back to 2007 – with hundreds of recorded interviews, podcasts and plays. This section of the site is pretty old so don’t expect it to work all the time and ignore it asking for Real Player to be loaded.

So Listener beware!!!

Take you pick from a selection of Liverpool audio guides, its musical history, heritage tours, slavery remembrance tours, and Visit England’s official guide.

ROUNDUP

Greatly enjoyed Mike Badger’s Reclaimed World at the Vitreum, as did many others, he sold several works too.
You can hear my interview podcast with Mike and Mick Gill the art director . Ends 12 Feb, you need to mke appt if you want see the show.

As ever the works of local printmakers such as Emma Gregory, Pete Clarke and Emily Johns are excellent, at the Cornerstone ‘5’ runs until 19 Feb. Plus another nice little show in the back room at Ye Cracke on the theme of Northern Songs runs until 15 March

Bluecoat Display Centre ‘Birds of a Feather’ features just 2 artists who share studios in Bristol – one embroiders the other does ceramics, both works have lots of character – they remind us of ‘creature comforts’.

Laurence Payot’s intervention in the city centre on Saturday was excellent but was for the one day only, you can read and see photos on Ian’s blog

Exhibition: 30 January – 28 March 2010

n

This multi-media installation by Sonia Boyce originated from a residency at Meriton School for Young Parents in Bristol, where it was shown at Spike October 2009. The exhibition explores universal ideas around the concept of care – the emotion we invest in others and in the making of works of art. In Bristol, Boyce produced a series of artworks from classroom discussions, which address fragmentary experience of longing, and raise questions about due care and contemporary life.
