Art in Liverpool FM

It’s my own personal history project stretching back to 2007 – with hundreds of recorded interviews, podcasts and plays. This section of the site is pretty old so don’t expect it to work all the time and ignore it asking for Real Player to be loaded.

So Listener beware!!!

Take you pick from a selection of Liverpool audio guides, its musical history, heritage tours, slavery remembrance tours, and Visit England’s official guide.

The Liverpool Design Festival returns – in the Crypt at Metropolitan Cathedral end Oct – Early Nov
Website launched www.liverpooldesignfestival.com

ROUNDUP

Press launch of Abandon Normal Devices –

Launching in Liverpool 23-27 September 2009, AND features screenings, installations, online projects, public realm interventions, debates, workshops and live events, with a distinctive emphasis on critique and ideas. At the heart of this festival lies a fascination with ideas about social, physical and technological norms with approaches from the playful to the downright provocative.

Featured highlights include: First UK solo exhibition from Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul; European premiere exhibition from digital interrogators The Yes Men; world premiere of Jamie King’s new feature film Dark Fibre (STEAL THIS FILM), a much anticipated appearance from Carolee Schneemann and Krzysztof Wodiczko’s return to the UK with a breath-taking outdoor projection. Also an outdoor performance on the waterfront by DJ Spooky and much more.

TWINS – How Do I Know I Am Me at A Foundation – ‘intriguing’ seems to be word most used to describe this 2 hour performance art by Angie Hiesl – LISTEN TO OUR INTERVIEW

LATE at TATE also featured a lot of performance and intervention including vomiting clowns and a knife-wielding shakespearian quoting chef!

Henny Acloque at Ceri Hand, also rather dark, symbolism, very good, especially the small works, very popular too. Also Daniel Pasteiner a A Foundation – large sculptures, including one made from rather smelly brussel sprouts! Whistler Etchings at Lady Lever – not been yet but looks really good, a splendid etching of Speke Hall is our artwork of the week this week.

While three of the artists Una Sealy and David Quinn and Emma Berkery live in urban environments they each approach their subject matter from an outside perspective. Exhibition details
