Volunteers required for Open City project

LARC a consortium of Liverpool's 8 leading arts organisation are running a project to encourage wider cultural participation post Capital of Culture and volunteers are need to help out.

The new scheme is to encourage wider attendance of Liverpool’s galleries, museums, theatres and concert halls. The Open City project is now looking for inspirational volunteer co-ordinators to work with groups of people who think they might be interested in theatre, visual art, dance and music of all kinds.

Open City is a project that aims to support local people in becoming visitors at Liverpool arts venues. It aims to make people who have yet to take advantage of the city’s cultural offer to feel welcome, supported and excited about attending the arts in Liverpool. Working with all the major cultural organisations in Liverpool, Open City is looking for individuals who can combine a passion for the arts with an understanding of the issues relating to people who feel they cannot attend the arts.

All volunteers will receive training so if you are interested in playing a vital role in supporting people to attend or participate in the arts and are looking for a way to boost your own skills or simply meet new people, this could be just the opportunity for you. Email This email address is being protected from spambots. Futuresonic announce 2009 dates

Furturesonic 2009 Manchester's own digital culture and media festival will be taking place on 13-16 May, Manchester UK

Transforming Manchester's city centre into a place of experimentation, making it come alive.  As in previous years Futuresonic has 4 strands Art, Music, Ideas and EVNTS.

There have been some fantastic venues, gigs, exhibitions and conferences in years gone by, so in it's 14th year this one should just be getting into it's precocious teenage nature and be really kicking. Last years had a great conference venue with Contact with many strange conversations about the shape of thing to come. North West based Soundnetwork had a tent pitched in the car park, a cafe come sonic experimentation venue, where you would be whispered to from across the room. Fingers crossed they will be there again with their - audio strangeness.

Find out more about the festival or better still find out more how to take part visit www.futuresonic.com
The North West TUC is holding this event on Saturday January 24 2009 at the Novas centre on Greenland Street, Liverpool starting at 10 and finishing around 5pm. The aim is to debate the links between art and culture and collective campaigning and action and look beyond Capital of Culture '08.

There will be a very varied programme of speakers conversation film and music. There is no charge for the event, but places need to be booked in advance - to book email - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
