Spectacular weekend ahead with Rathole Radio and Ogg Camp

posterrat2

The forthcoming Bank Holiday weekend promises to be an excellent opportunity to listen to some great tunes and share your culture at Ogg Camp at the Black-E.

On Friday night Bad Format Social Clubin Liverpool, will kick off the weekend in style with live music from David Rovics, Attila The Stockbroker and Rathole Radio host (and Linux Outlaw)Dan Lynch , among other guests. Tickets are £5 in advance and can be bought from the Rathole Radio website right now. It's sure to be quite unlike any other gig you've ever seen before and it will be the start of something unique.

A celebration of the connections between music, technology, cyberculture and politics in our 21st century world. Maintaining the eclectic and interesting mix of musical styles. There will also be live message walls and Internet streams to seamlessly link the online audience with people actually inside the venue, complete with a robotic audience member and a chance to vote on the songs you want to hear, whether you're in Liverpool or Liechtenstein.

And Saturday and Sunday will see Liverpool's first OggCamp, a free open source and open culture unconference organised by the presenters of the Ubuntu UK Podcast and Linux Outlaws. The first ever OggCamp took place on Sunday, 25th October 2009  in Wolverhampton, it was a huge success.  It's a weekend of Free Software, Free Culture and Free Thinking.

200-300 people are expected so if you want a chance to meet others who are passionate about technology and shareideas this is it. They have many top FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) developers from around the world joining us to give talks and attend sessions. ENTRY TO OGGCAMP IS COMPLETELY FREE! NO TICKETS REQUIRED

If you want to get a feel for the event, have a look at the recap of OggCamp 2009.

What is a Barcamp / unconference?
More formal conferences have the usual people speaking every time; an unconference is an opportunity to interact with new and interesting people. There won't be a published list of speakers or set schedule before the event, everyone generates content on the day. That can include you! The schedule is decided by the attendees and we'll have a voting system for that. You can see  what others are already proposing - http://ideas.oggcamp.org/talks

What Is An Ogg?

Ogg Vorbis is a completely open, patent-free, professional audio encoding and streaming technology with all the benefits of Open Source. OggCamp is about technology, Open Source and Freedom, but also about music, art, politics, community, creativity and much more. They chose to use the term Ogg because for it reflects all these things neatly.

Get Involved: You can add your own ideas for talks and activities to our public wiki – help make the event what you want it to be! It doesn't even have to be about technology strictly, it could be anything. They have about 60 slots available and all are welcome - ideas.oggcamp.org
