CIRCUIT BENDING 101 - 9th July 2011

Circuit Bending 101

Bored by normal instruments? Uninspired by laptops?

Learn how to add extra wiring to battery-operated toys to make them bleep with anticipation, howl with excitement and transcend their blinky light allowance at this workshop led by Nikki Pugh, commissioned by SoundNetwork

The workshop includes instruction (we’ll teach you how to solder if you don’t already know) and all the materials you need (feel free to bring your own soldering equipment and wire cutters etc if you don’t want to share).

STATIC, 23 Roscoe Lane, Liverpool, L1 9JD - Saturday July 9th, 11:00 – 6:00
Under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Be aware that it's a long day and we’ll be using soldering irons and power tools, so it’s probably not suitable for children under about 9 years old.

£25 inc. all kit, materials and instruction ORDER TICKET ON EVENTBRITE

£25, includes instruction, all materials for the three projects ...and cake! Payment is in advance via PayPal (you can pay by card if you don’t have a PayPal account).

This is a great opportunity to take advantage of a subsidised workshop -  a rare bargain for a full day workshop with kit. Tickets are strictly limited and will be released at 11am on Friday June 24th. Don't miss out!

The workshop will be led by Nikki Pugh and Ross Dalziel.
If you have any queries, please contact Nikki.

Over three projects we will learn the basics of circuit bending – modifying the circuits in battery-operated toys to produce new sounds:

  • Use potentiometers and light dependent resistors to change speed and pitch
  • Add in blinky lights
  • Use short circuits to distort sounds
  • Add body contacts to distort sounds
  • Loop sounds
  • Add audio output sockets so you can make those distorted bleepy noises LOUDER
