Abandon Normal Devices (AND), a new Northwest festival of New Cinema and Digital Culture, is excited to announce the full programme for the inaugural festival.
 
 
 



ROUNDUP
Urbanism09 - Ian went to opening on Wednesday, interesting exhibition about the history of the old St Winnies site and enjoyed our canal boat (taxi) ride to Portoallegro and went on board the Mint Tea House. But he missed the parade on Sat evening.

Revolver - Bernadette O'Toole at Old Barber Shop - another good painting show, abstracts relating to piles of paper. Nimrod by Bedwyr Williams at Ceri Hand gallery. Tony Dash and Colin Holmes at Gostins drew a good crowd. Saw all the go-penguin designs that were on show to the potential sponsors - some gooduns.

VIEWING: Under the Volcano: an exhibition for Malcolm Lowry (1909 – 1957)

The Bluecoat celebrates Lowry’s centenary with an ambitious programme that includes an exhibition, a book, live music, dance, talks and special participatory events such as a Mexican Day of the Dead altar dedicated to Lowry. The influence of Lowry’s work has extended beyond writers to visual artists, and this exhibition brings together twelve from Merseyside, the UK, Mexico and Chile, who respond to Lowry in different ways.  Exhibition details

OPENS: Bridget Riley: Flashback

Bridget Riley: Flashback is the first in a major new series of touring exhibitions from the Arts Council collection, Southbank Centre. Riley’s distinctive and optically vibrant paintings generate extraordinary sensations of movement, light and space. Eight large scale paintings will be on show, with four coming from Riley’s personal collection. Alongside these are aound 30 drawings and studies that illuminate her working methods over her five-decade-long-career. Many of these will be exhibited for the first time.  Exhibition details
