Mr Nice is the story of Howard Marks, an unassuming and likable Welshman who went on to become one of the worlds most wanted criminals and a cult hero to dope smokers around the globe. He was an International drug trafficker who experienced many things even the best fiction writer would struggle to make up. Marks is a man I know very well having read his autobiography (also titled Mr Nice) many years ago and seen him live. It's fair to say I was expecting and hoping for a lot going into this film. Nevertheless I'm not one to pre-judge.

This week they have some real nasty characters for you... the Despicable Groo is out to steal the moon, plus Mr. "Greed is Good" himself, Gordon Gecko returns to the stockmarket in Wall Street 2, and the Baader Meinhof gang take over the Artscreen. On the plus side though, they have women fighting for equal pay in Made in Dagenham, plus small mice searching for their loved ones in the classic animation The Secret of NIMH.

Cork Film Festival will present two programmes of Irish short films at the Liverpool Irish Festival. These films reflect the breadth of filmmaking going on in Ireland today. Familiar themes surface such as Ireland’s rural and storytelling history but they also introduce new voices and styles which may surprise in their diversity. Several films have only recently been completed, and they will also screen some award winning films from recent years.
